This full backyard transformation was all about honoring the natural beauty of the site—specifically, a mature honey locust tree the homeowner cherished. While removing the old timber tie walls and crumbling concrete, we carefully preserved the tree and reimagined the entire outdoor living space to flow around it—making it the centerpiece of a beautiful, functional design.
The new layout features a series of elevation changes, retaining walls, and paver patio areas that create a sense of movement and connection between each outdoor zone. We used Techo-Bloc Blu 60 pavers in Shale Gray and Raffinato step units to give the space a clean, modern look, while County Materials Tribute Split-Face walls in Graphite brought structure and contrast throughout.
To tie everything together, we used gray trap 3/4″ chip rock for a sleek border around the patios, and added Miss Kim lilacs and honeysuckle shrubs to soften the edges with seasonal color and fragrance. This project wasn’t easy—balancing tree preservation, grade management, and architectural alignment—but the final result speaks for itself: a shaded sanctuary that flows naturally with the landscape and elevates the bold design of the home it surrounds.
Customer Review / Testimonial:
“From the very first meeting, we knew we were working with professionals who truly cared. Our biggest request was preserving the large honey locust tree in our backyard, and LNG not only made that happen, they made it the star of the design. The entire landscape now flows around it naturally, like it was always meant to be that way.
The new patios, steps, walls, and plantings feel intentional and modern, yet warm and inviting. Every area feels connected, and the shaded patio is perfect any time of day. We especially love how the design works with the style of our home—it feels like one complete vision.
The team was professional, respectful, and detail-oriented from start to finish. We’re beyond happy with how it turned out.”
