Set on the stunning bluffs of Afton, MN, overlooking rolling hills and untouched prairie, this project was a rare opportunity to blend natural restoration with modern landscape design. Our challenge? Reforest a recently logged lot surrounding a brand-new custom home—bringing the land back to life with native beauty and intentional design.
We planted over 100 ball & burlap trees, including a diverse mix of birches, maples, oaks, pines, and spruces, to reestablish a layered, forest-like canopy around the property. Beneath the trees, we seeded a mix of native prairie grasses and wildflowers to recreate the authentic feel of Afton’s natural landscape.
To complement the home’s modern architecture, we installed clean gray trap rock beds accented with native perennials and large clump lilac trees—merging form and function for a refined, low-maintenance result.
We also addressed the hillside location with smart drainage solutions, running select downspouts into drain tile and pop-up emitters to prevent erosion and manage runoff effectively. This project stands out not only for its beauty but for its ecological integrity—a perfect example of thoughtful design meeting environmental restoration in a way that honors the natural surroundings.
Customer Review / Testimonial
“We knew building a home on the Afton bluffs would be special—but bringing the landscape back to life was something we weren’t sure how to approach. LNG absolutely delivered on every level. They helped us restore the land with over 100 beautiful trees, native prairie seeding, and a layout that felt intentional and natural.
The finished result looks like it’s always been here—mature, wild, and peaceful—yet polished with modern touches like the gray stone beds and low-maintenance planting. Their knowledge of native species and how to work with the terrain was incredibly reassuring.
It was a unique project, and they treated it with care, vision, and professionalism from start to finish. We now get to enjoy the beauty of nature without sacrificing design—and we’re proud of what we brought back to the land.”
